Spanish Club

We didn't really do anything for Spanish Club this week. We had a quick meeting and are planning to do another fundraiser fiesta thing next week I think.

Cinco de Mayo-La Fiesta

The party went really well, a lot better than I was worried it would be. The four Spanish Club members left our classes 10 minutes early to set up, which was just barely enough time to get ready. We sent up a buffet with the plates on one table, the meat (real meat and veggi meat) on another table, and everything else (chips, salsa, lettuce, cheese, sour cream etc.) on the third table. We also had free panera bread cookies. The organization of the food worked well. We were able to control the amount of meat people took which was good because we didn't have that much. We also had plenty of everything. We ended up selling a lot of burritos; about 40 of them. I stood by the door and collected money, my friends helped direct people and serve the food, and our adivior stood out side and told people what was going on. I think next time we should have a sign or something as well. The money making aspect of this went really well, we raised about 80 dollars for an orphan in Hondurus. However, it wasn't as much of a cultural experience. We had people who were going to come and dance zumba and play music, but they didn't come until all the burrito buying people had left, so it was mainly just like a bake sale. Maybe next time we could start music or something earlier. But, yeah, it seemed to go well. We are are planning to do it again soon.

Cinco de Mayo-El plan

We actually didn't buy enough stuff yesterday, so my lacrosse friend and I got a chance to participate in buying food. We are planning to have a $2 make your own burrito buffet to support an orphan in Honduras. I'm actually kind of worried about this. I don't think we planned it very well, it is not very well thought through. I'm worried that we don't have enough food especially. I am also worried that it might be too crazy. My goal in this fiesta is first to have fun and secondly to educate myself and others about Spanish culture oh yeah and finally to help an orphan in need.

Besides the food, there will also be Spanish music and Zumba dancing.

I'm really not sure what's going to happen tomorrow-I hope it is fun and not completely out of control.

Shopping

Today we planned to shop for Spanish Club Cinco de Mayo but my car died do I wasn't able to go. I will still be able to participate in this event of global importance, but I was sad that I couldn't have anything more to do with the preparation of it. Sometimes no matter how much you try to plan you can't make things go the way you want them to.

Cinco de Mayo

Today we planned for our Cinco de Mayo party which will take place next week. We plan to speak Spanish, make Mexico food, and listen to Mexican music all while participating in Mexico's independence day, which is of importance to Mexico and Mexicans everywhere. I hope to develop the new skill of cooking Mexican food as well as improving my Spanish and knowledge of Mexican culture.
